NMFC Data Update Process
To understand the NMFC data update process, here is a quick summary:
Step One: Proposed Updates
Updates or cancelations are proposed and published in a Docket. To learn more about proposing updates to the NMFC, see Classification FAQ: Can I propose updates to the NMFC?
Step Two: Docket Review
The Docket, which is comprised of multiple proposals, is discussed and reviewed by the NMFC during an NMFTA Membership meeting, when members may participate in public NMFC discussions about the proposals.
Step Three: NMFC Vote
After the NMFC reviews the Docket, the committee convenes to vote. Once they are finished, the final decisions are published in a Disposition Bulletin, which details all approved, modified, or disapproved proposals.
Step Four: Disposition Bulletin is Published
After the NMFC votes on the Docket proposals, the final decisions are published in a Disposition Bulletin. See Classification FAQ: Where can I find the Docket? for more information.
Additionally, all NMFC updates are noted in ClassIT+. See Tracking the Latest NMFC Data Updates on ClassIT+ for more information.
Step Five: Supplement is Published
The Supplement is published on the Issue Date, which is published shortly after the Disposition Bulletin, and provides the updated data based on the approved and modified proposals.
Step Six: Supplement Goes into Effect
The Supplement goes into effect on the Effective Date.
