Retrieving the NMFC Number:
The articleNumber field in both the KeywordSearch and ArticleById endpoints corresponds to the NMFC number. You can search by keyword using the KeywordSearch method and retrieve matching NMFC item numbers via the articleNumber field in the response.

Why ArticleById Doesn’t Include an NMFC Code Field:
The API uses the articleNumber as the NMFC identifier, so there is no separate NMFC code field returned; the articleNumber you pass in and receive is the NMFC code.
Classification for Articles Without Subitems:
For articles that do not include subitems, the classification field is present but will currently return null, meaning no classification was provided. Please see the image below.
Structured Logic for Subitem Selection:
There are currently no plans for implementation at the moment. This is something that we are looking at for future release.
