ClassIT+™ |
Please note that all calculators in ClassIT+ are for estimation purposes only. |
The Density Calculator shows measurements and results related to handling units in addition to the columns shown on the screen.
Each row accommodates the calculations for a single item. You can add and remove rows as necessary by clicking Add More Rows or clicking the trashcan icon.
Each calculator in ClassIT+ features the following resources to assist you in calculations:
-
Conversion: Allows you to do basic conversions as you’re trying to figure out your calculations.
See Using the Conversion Calculator for more information. - Reference Item Lookup: Allows you to look up and reference a specific item from the calculator. See Using the Reference Item Lookup for more information.

Density Calculator Formulas
Description | Formula |
Determine the volume in cubic inches. | L x W x H |
Convert cubic inches to cubic feet. | Cubic Inches/1728 |
Determine the total cubic feet. | Total Cubic Feet = Cubic Feet x Handling Unit Count |
Determine the total density. | Density = Weight (lbs.)/Total Cubic Feet |
Dimension
Click on the drop-down menu in the Dimension tool to choose the type of units used in length, width, and height measurements on the density calculations. This can be in (inches), ft (feet), cm (centimeters), or m (meters).
Result
Click on the drop-down menu in the Result tool to choose the type of units used in the density calculation result. This can be lbs/ft3 (pounds per cubic foot, which is the U.S. and English measurement unit) or kg/m3 (kilograms per cubic meter, which is the metric measurement unit).
Weight
Click the drop-down menu on the Weight tool to choose the type of units used for the weight in the density calculations. The options are: lbs (pounds) or kg (kilograms).
Calculate
Click Calculate once you’ve entered all the applicable information to see the resulting density for each row where you entered all the data.
Clear
Click Clear to clear all the data from the density calculation table.
