Exploring ClassIT+ Search

Please note that our search results are based on opinions formed from data and input values at the time of the search and are applicable for the life of the shipment.

The Search feature is located on the Main Menu and Dashboard for easy access, allowing you to efficiently search current NMFC data. See Accessing ClassIT+ Search for more information. 

As you type your search query, the search feature automatically makes suggestions based on the criteria you enter. These suggestions take your previous search history into consideration and offer best-guess options if your search criteria is misspelled. Other criteria you can search for include:

• Singular or plural words
• Synonyms
• Descriptors
• “As of” a specific date
• Date ranges

As you view your search results, you'll have the ability to save the result as a Favorite, add Comments, or use this search result as a reference in the Calculator. See Working with your Search Results for more information. 

ClassIT+ offers several ways to search: 

• Default Search
• Detailed Search
• Search Suggestions
• Current NMFC Content

You can also easily search on any item throughout the ClassIT+ site by clicking the Search icon affiliated with that item.

Default Search

By default, clicking Search gives you the top result(s) at the item number or commodity level. If your criteria results in too many findings, then your results are displayed as a Detailed Search.

Detailed Search

The Detailed Search option organizes your results by tabs and allows you to sort through various levels of information, including:

• Index
• Articles
• Rules
• Packages
• Supplements
• Dockets

Search Suggestions

As mentioned above, Suggestions are automatically displayed as you type your search query. These suggestions are based on the criteria you enter, take your previous search history into consideration, and offer best-guess options if your search criteria is misspelled.

Current NMFC Content

Searching by Current NMFC Content allows you to filter your search results by date, date range, supplement, or public docket.
