How to Submit an Interpretations Request

To submit an expert NMFC Interpretation, do the following:

1. Go to the NMFTA Store (store.nmfta.org) and log in. See How to register to submit Interpretation Requests for more information. 
2. Purchase a Classification Interpretation Assistance product. See How to Purchase an Interpretations Request for more information.
3. Click Request Interpretation Assistance on the Interpretations page in the NMFTA Store.

4. Draft your request for an Interpretation. See Requirements for Submitting an Interpretation Request for more information. 
   You will need the following details:
   • The Order Number from your Interpretation purchase.  See How to Purchase an Interpretations Request for more information.
   • Manufacturer’s description, model numbers, and product function.
   • Digital photos, diagrams, or product literature.
   • Shipping form (e.g., assembled, knocked down, nested).
   • Materials, packing type (e.g., box, pallet), and website links.
   • An MSDS/SDS is required for hazardous materials.
5. Submit the form and complete the purchase process. 

Please note the following: An interpretation is an expert, research-backed opinion from NMFTA, the entity that oversees and manages the NMFC, on the proper classification for a specific commodity. Each request is limited to one (1) interpretation at a time.
