SCAC ID Verification for Non-Class 8 Carriers
SUMMARY: To enhance fraud-resilience, safety, and trust, the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA)™ is implementing a new ID verification process within its Standard Carrier Alpha Code® (SCAC®) product for non-Class 8 carriers.
This new process adds identity and address validation designed to confirm that the individual and the business are not fraudulent and is a legitimate entity. These changes close the gap in our fraud-prevention controls for those carriers who cannot be validated using Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) details, ensuring that only verified carriers receive a SCAC.
