Is a US DOT number required for a SCAC?
No, a USDOT number is not required for a SCAC. However, the Mode of Transportation option must be populated if a USDOT number plus any of the other numbers, such as MC Number, MX Number, or FF Number, are not entered.
Simply put:
- USDOT Number + MC/MX/FF Number = No Mode of Transportation
- Mode of Transportation = No USDOT Number + MC/MX/FF Number
You can populate as much information as you wish, but the above rules are the minimum requirements for applying for a new SCAC.
