Standard Carrier Alpha Code™ (SCAC®) |
Is a US DOT number required for a SCAC?
No, a USDOT number is not required for a SCAC. However, the Mode of Transportation option must be populated if a USDOT number plus any of the other numbers, such as MC Number, MX Number, or FF Number, are not entered.
Simply put:
- USDOT Number + MC/MX/FF Number = No Mode of Transportation
- Mode of Transportation = No USDOT Number + MC/MX/FF Number
Obviously, customers can populate as much information as they wish, but the above rules are the minimum requirements for applying for a new SCAC.
See Filling out the Apply for a New SCAC Form for more information on the information needed when applying for a new SCAC.
You can reset the fields on the FMCSA screen by clicking the Clear All button. Once the fields are clear, you can enter new information and continue with the Apply for a New SCAC wizard |
