Note the following rules when entering data into the FMCSA fields during the SCAC application process:
• If the FMCSA fields are left blank, an error message reads, “FMCSA Information is required.”
• If the US DOT Number and FF Number fields are populated, then the MC Number, MX Number, and Mode of Transportation fields are disabled.
• If the Mode of Transportation field is populated, then the MC Number, MX Number, and FF Number fields are disabled.
• If the MC Number field is populated, then the MX Number, FF Number, and Mode of Transportation fields are disabled.
• If the MX Number field is populated, then the MC Number, FF Number, and Mode of Transportation fields are disabled. Additionally, the MC Number and Mode of Transportation fields are prepopulated with MINMEX.
• The US DOT Number field is never disabled.
• You can reset the fields on the FMCSA screen by clicking the Clear All button. Once the fields are clear, you can enter new information and continue with the Apply for a New SCAC wizard.
• You cannot enter a zero as the first number when entering information in the US DOT, FF Number, MC Number, or MX Number fields.
• You can only enter numbers in the US DOT Number, MC Number, MX Number, and FF Number fields.
