Using the SCAC ID Verification portal for non-class 8 carriers during the SCAC Apply, Renew, or Reinstate processes is quick and simple.
To begin, you will need the following items:
- Device with a camera to capture a live-selfie
- Government ID
- Selfie

For the best user experience, use a cell phone or tablet to complete the ID verification process. See Tips for Successfully Completing your SCAC ID Verification for more information. |
- On the SCAC Apply, Renew, or Reinstate application, you will be asked if you are a non-class 8 carrier. If you are a non-class 8 carrier, click No.

Please note the following:

- Click Verify Identity to enter the ID Verification portal. The Confirmation dialog box opens.
- Review and confirm that you acknowledge the ID verification process fee of $5. This fee is non-refundable.

- Click Begin verifying. You will be asked a series of questions such as your address, what type of ID you need verified, and more.
- Next, you will be asked to use your device to take a live-selfie. If you cannot get a clear image, you can click Continue on another device to use a secondary device.
- After you submit your live-capture selfie, you will be prompted to capture your ID.

- If your ID verification is successful, you will be redirected back to the SCAC Apply, Renew, or Reinstate process.
| The number of failed ID verification attempts is limited to three (3) failures withing twenty-four (24) hours. If all three (3) attempts result in failure, then the portal is automatically locked for twenty-four (24) hours. |
